VCCDC Selected by NALCAB for COVID-19 Emergency Response Funding for Homeownership Assistance

Funds part of $1 million national effort to assist hard hit Latino and immigrant communities supported by JPMorgan Chase

(OXNARD, CA) – In response to the economic crisis that has resulted from the coronavirus pandemic, NALCAB – The National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders awarded  Ventura County Community Development Corporation (VCCDC) a $15,000 grant for its work in providing low- and moderate-income households with homeownership assistance and financial coaching as well as accessing federal, state and local financial assistance. Since 2001, VCCDC has worked to fulfill its mission of empowering families through education and homeownership. VCCDC has originated over $118M in mortgage loans, provided more than $8.4M in down payment assistance, provided education and one-on-one coaching to over 14,000 families and invested more than $9M in community revitalization through its Acquisition and Rehab program. These and other achievements have contributed to improved economic conditions throughout the communities VCCDC serves.

VCCDC was selected through a competitive process based on their track record of service, financial stewardship and positive impact on the local community they serve.

“We are grateful for the generous contribution from NALCAB’s and JPMorgan Chase during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to their support we can ensure that VCCDC continues assisting individuals and families in our community to find a place to call home,” says VCCDC Executive Director, Bertha Garcia.

The JPMorgan Chase funding is part of a larger national effort by NALCAB to mobilize nearly $6.4 million in grants and low-cost debt to over 100 Latino-serving nonprofit organizations in 23 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.  Learn more about that effort HERE.
