Ventura County Community Development Corporation (VCCDC) is hosting its highly anticipated 8th annual Homeownership Fair for the community on Saturday, August 29, sponsored by City National Bank and others. For the first time ever, VCCDC’s Homeownership Fair will be online, giving families across California access to a multitude of resources and free professional advice to start or maintain their homeownership journey, with special focus on the challenges and opportunities surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. This online format allows attendees to network live with industry experts via virtual exhibitor booths, interact with other event attendees, attend workshops and participate in contests.

VCCDC’s mission is to empower low-to-moderate income individuals and families to build wealth through education and homeownership. COVID-19 has exacerbated what was already a housing crisis and with families facing additional economic hardship from lost wages, VCCDC’s work is more vital than ever. The fair focuses on providing high-quality education, resources, and encouragement to all those seeking to achieve their dream of homeownership or to refinance their current home.

“Finding adequate and affordable housing was already an uphill battle for Californians before the pandemic,” says Bertha Garcia, VCCDC Executive Director. “And now many more families are facing economic devastation and severe housing insecurity. Our homeownership and foreclosure workshop attendance is soaring as people turn to us for help.”

VCCDC is thrilled to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Lourdes Castro Ramirez, State of California Secretary of the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency. Secretary Castro Ramirez is dedicated to improving community and system-level housing, health, business, economic and educational opportunities, and has been integral in guiding policy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit virtual exhibitor booths and learn about:

• Accessing thousands of dollars in down-payment assistance

• Credit score boosting

• Finding affordable local homes

• Tips on navigating housing during and after the pandemic

• LIVE expert advice (for free)

• Other valuable community resources

VCCDC’s fair will be held LIVE on a state-of-the-art online platform.
