VCCDC Receives $50,000 Grant from S. Mark Taper Foundation to Support Homeownership and Education Services

Oxnard, CA – The Ventura County Community Development Corporation (VCCDC) was recently awarded a $50,000 grant by the S. Mark Taper Foundation to support VCCDC’s work of expanding homeownership opportunities for underserved families in the counties of Ventura and Santa Barbara.

With the support of the S. Mark Taper Foundation Grant, VCCDC will provide over 1,400 low-to-moderate income families with access to educational workshops, one-on-one financial coaching, down payment assistance programs and mortgage lending products. Families assisted by VCCDC are provided with the opportunity to work with HUD-certified Homeownership Specialists to establish a solid action plan that will prepare them towards achieving homeownership. This professional support system includes educational workshops and financial coaching services before, during and after the home buying process. In addition, eligible families will have access to an array of first-time homebuyer mortgage loans and down payment assistance programs to assist in achieving homeownership.

For the past 19 years, VCCDC has provided homeownership education and financial coaching services to more than 15,000 local families.
