VCCDC to Host Inaugural Kern County Homeownership Conference

VCCDC (Ventura County Community Development Corporation) is hosting its first in-person Annual Kern County Homeownership Conference “A New Way Home” on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 10am to 2pm with presenting sponsors U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo. The Kern County Homeownership Conference, free to all participants, is taking place at the Doubletree Hotel, 3100 Camino Del Rio Court, in Bakersfield. Offered in both English and Spanish, the conference will provide individuals and families in Kern County and throughout Central California the best guidance and practical tools to help them achieve their dream of owning or preserving their home.

“As high home prices linger and interest rates continue to rise, homeownership has become increasingly difficult to achieve, especially for low- and moderate-income families,” says Bertha Garcia, VCCDC Executive Director. “Our non-profit organization is dedicated to empowering families through financial education and homeownership, and the goal of the VCCDC Homeownership Conference is to provide each attendee with the most up to date information, tools, and resources to make homeownership possible,” she added.

The conference is planned with families in mind and will offer children’s activities and Radio Classic Hits 92.1 and Radio Lobo 102.9 are broadcasting a live remote from the Homeownership Conference. A boxed lunch will be served for the first 200 registrants and includes free giveaways.

The event kicks-off with an in-person VCCDC Homeownership Conference onsite loan center where pre-registered conference attendees can have a free, personalized 30-minute consultation with loan officers from VCCDC, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, Citizens Business Bank, and Bank of the West.

“The no-obligation pre-qualification sessions have been popular at other VCCDC homeownership conferences to help potential borrowers determine their eligibility for first time homebuyers and programs,” added Garcia. Those interested can sign up for the VCCDC Homeownership Conference Loan Center upon registering for the conference and on-site registration will also be available.

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Visit exhibitor booths from financial institutions offering various programs

  • Access information about programs offering up to $109,000 in down-payment assistance

  • Attend workshops offering information on topics like credit and down payment assistance

  • Attend panel with information on the latest homebuying programs

  • Hear Bakersfield client testimonial about VCCDC assistance

  • Real-time networking with other homebuyers and homeowners

  • Free expert advice from industry professionals

  • Utilize exhibitor booth passport for opportunity to enter raffle to win a big screen TV
