Brighter Futures Start at Home

For Taylor and Daylie Hunt, this holiday season marks a very special time. Surrounded by Christmas decor, they are enjoying this time of reflection and joy relaxing in front of a warm fireplace with their new baby daughter Henley. As an added benefit, these precious memories are now being made in their own home.

The Hunts’ dream of homeownership didn’t start out exactly as planned. Married in 2019, they found out a year later their family would soon be growing by one. Although Taylor was ecstatic, he hoped to have established a home for his family by then. When a family friend needed to sell their home quickly, it seemed to be a perfect opportunity to make a move. But there was one caveat: they lacked the necessary down payment to be able to purchase not only this home, but any home. With home prices climbing higher and higher in Ventura County, their savings didn’t add up.

Then Taylor and Daylie were referred to Ventura County Community Development Corporation, and things became a bit brighter. Watch their heartwarming story featured  here.

“Our home purchase is a game-changer, as it’s helping us build family wealth,” said Taylor. “Being able to put money in our own pockets instead of someone else’s, and having resources to someday provide for Henley attending college are important. We are grateful, and it wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for VCCDC”, he added.

The Hunt’s family story is one of 461 family home purchase stories taking place in just these last two years with the help of VCCDC. The cornerstone of a family’s economic, environmental, and social well-being is homeownership, and with your support, we can continue helping build legacies for families like the Hunts.
