Oxnard, California - Ventura County Community Development Corporation is proud to announce Jill Shaffer as a new addition to their team of professionals working to strengthen and sustain vibrant communities by empowering low to moderate income individuals and families to build wealth through education and homeownership.  Jill joins VCCDC as their new Fund Development Director with over 35 years of non-profit leadership experience here in Ventura County. 


“VCCDC’s board and staff are excited to have Jill join our team of professionals,” said Bertha Garcia, Executive Director of VCCDC, “we feel Jill’s experience and passion are a great asset as we continue our growth and further our impact in the communities that we serve.”


Ms. Shaffer’s extensive background in leadership and fund development came through several non-profit organizations including the YMCA, the Ventura County Leadership Academy and Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County. She serves as a long-time member of the Ventura Downtown Lions Club and was recently honored with a prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship. She is a graduate of the Leadership Ventura, as well as the YMCA’s Executive Development Institute. Jill has an energetic leadership style and a unique ability to facilitate growth and interaction within a network of professionals.  Her objective is to connect with community members who are passionate about enhancing the quality of life in Ventura County through education and homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. 



Since 2001, VCCDC has worked to fulfill its mission of empowering families through education and homeownership.  Since its inception VCCDC has originated over $118M in mortgage loans, provided more than $7M in down payment assistance, provided education and one-on-one coaching to over 14,000 families and invested more than $9M in community revitalization through its Acquisition and Rehab program. These and other achievements have contributed to improved economic conditions throughout the communities VCCDC serves. VCCDC is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and a housing counseling agency approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). VCCDC is made up of certified and licensed professionals with a deep, personal desire to make the world a better place to live. From our education services, including workshops and one-on-one coaching, to our lending and realty support, including down payment assistance, we ensure that our clients are supported from start to finish of the homebuying process.
